I’ve now been postponed by Banner/Legal and General and outright denied by Lincoln the day after competing my medical history forms.
Am waiting for the third-party reports from Lincoln, but the issue seems to be my prescription and/or mental health history. I take ADHD meds, have a low dose/as needed Xanax and beta blocker prescriptions for public speaking anxiety and a mood stabilizer, but off label for depression (no bipolar diagnosis).
From my research, mental health treatments don’t seem to be common triggers for outright denials vs. getting bumped down in table ratings and having a higher premium. These are also fairly common conditions. All I can guess is that it is the combination of meds they don’t like. Which I can’t do much about – I need all 3 current prescriptions to function at work and life.
Appreciate any experiences or suggestions here. I’m concerned with continuing to apply and racking up denials on my record, which may make it even harder to get approved.

Are you working with an independent agent/broker or trying to deal directly with the carrier? For your situation, you’re likely better off finding a local life insurance agent/broker and work with them to find what you need. A seasoned agent won’t even bother submitting an application they are know is highly likely to be denied, and thy also know which companies have a higher “tolerance” for less-than-perfect applicants.
