Trump threatening to invade Greenland and putting on tariffs on EU countries trying to stop it from happening is one side of the coin.
Flip side is ZEISS mirrors from Germany and ASML in the Netherlands putting the machines together to allow Silicon Valley to produce their chips. GER and NED firmly hold the semiconductor branch by its balls. If Germany cuts off future ZEISS mirrors, OR Netherlands decides that they won't deliver their machines to US companies, the already wobbly AI bubble is gonna blow up into all of our faces.
Mind you: there is simply no substitution for ZEISS mirrors. Scaled to the size of Germany, their mirrors have an error margin of 0.2mm (that's roughly the size of 2 human hairs for our non-metric audience) and they are literally 10-15 years ahead of competition. Not in a Steve Jobs' "and oh boy did we patent it" kind of way when he released the iPhone. Nobody can simply reverse engineer it. Even Japan (!) gave up on it. huh.
Good time to realize profits imho
Are US semiconductor dependent companies risk of crashing?

Silicon Valley hasn’t made any chips for years, you mean Texas, Arizona, Idaho, Oregon …… and trump will taco when tsmc calls wanting to know why their investment in US manufacturing is being f**ked up by Trump.
0.2mm or 0.2nm?
No it won’t , Taiwan produce most of chips with ASML machine, powering AI industry and causing shortage on DRAM and shit, and ASML is getting very handsome part of the pie. such ban will be no benefit to anyone, even more devastating for EU.
there’re more options and less destructive a lot more beneficial like restrict US internet services.
Biggest possible impediments: 8.0 earthquake in Taiwan destroying the factories or China takeover, controlling their interaction with the west. Both are possible
“Territorial integrity and sovereignty are fundamental principles of international law,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on X. “Tariffs would undermine transatlantic relations and risk a dangerous downward spiral.””
Not sounding like a fun direction to go in. I would say let’s hope SCOTUS grows a backbone on this one, but we all know that’s not gonna happen.
My hope is that any adults still left in the White House step up and convince Trump to stop the nonsensical, posturing about Greenland.
Hopefully something else will catch his attention next month.
Trump is an absolute moron but this post is dumb.
If NED and GER had the supply chain by the balls then explain to me exactly how they can’t even determine where UEV litho systems are sold (ie China ban).
