The U.S. Department of Justice confirmed that 57.55 BTC seized in the Samourai Wallet case will not be auctioned.

Historically, seized Bitcoin was sold via U.S. Marshals auctions.

In this case, the BTC will be retained under Executive Order 14233 rather than liquidated.

This means seized Bitcoin no longer automatically represents future sell pressure.

While the amount is relatively small, it sets an interesting precedent for how governments may handle Bitcoin custody going forward.
