      These tariffs only negatively impact exporters to the extent they are dependent on sales in the US. Given the rate at which global markets are changing, that is a rapidly declining dependency. And yes, basic Econ should be taught to everyone, but don’t assume that guarantees everyone will understand it.

    2. Technically, tariffs are supposed to slow down sales of foreign made goods in relation to domestic goods.

      So it would be punishing European, and British, manufacturers by directing sales away from them.

      But if Americans can’t afford domestic or foreign goods due to everything else, tariffs don’t really matter to European, and British, manufacturers.

      (I am not a Brexit fan.)

    3. With the way the UK is going after speech I don’t know if enjoying basic civil liberties is the line to use here

      We do. I teach history and we even discuss tariffs with Smoot Hawley. The issue is that Trump and his ilk coast through school. Their parents made donations and they sailed through.
