My Bill is due today, I go to pay my bill. It won't take payment from me until the 20th. A warning message pops up saying you bill is scheduled to be paid after the due date. They have no phone support on weekends. Late payments are no joke.

    1. A lot of bills won’t process on Sundays or holidays because banks aren’t open to process them. Best you can do is probably just schedule it for Tuesday and hope they have a grace period. This is one of the reasons auto-pay of some kind is usually recommended.

It’s the weekend before a federal holiday. You should have paid yesterday.

I am surprised that Nelnet doesn’t allow for same day payment. ,

It’s not going to hurt your credit if you pay within 30 days of the due date.

      You’ll be fine

    4. It doesn’t affect your credit until 90 days past due and federal loans currently have no late fees. You’ll be fine

    5. Your bill is not actually due until the 20th.

They are never due on weekends or Federal holidays, always the next business day after. Which is in the fine print.

Just schedule the payment for the 20th. You won’t have any late fees, and it won’t impact your credit. If you want to avoid this in the future, either set up auto pay or get in the habit of making the payment 4-5 days in advance so you don’t get caught on another holiday weekend.

    7. You won’t get charged a late fee. Take a deep breath, this is common across all billing companies, credit card, car loans, etc. just schedule it for Tuesday or whatever the earliest date is. It shows up as you putting it in today

    8. Predatory?

      Hardly.

Unless I missed the memo about the new definition.

This is how every bill and every payment system works.

Monday is MLK day and most banks are closed and people have day off too. Just pay it today and it will go through on the 20th.

    10. Nelnet is predatory both against borrowers and employees! Ever work a call center? The metrics to keep your job are crazy! They won’t even let the employees use the bathroom without being out of adherence! And it counts to break time! They laid off 1100 people in 2023 in one shot. Then another idk 500? No matter your metrics. They found a reason. If you were making bonus and top pay you were out.
