Hello,
I had a quick question. I recently got into a car accident with a commercial semi truck. The semi was at fault. I am handling the car stuff and I got an attorney to handle the body injury stuff. I also got a rental in the meantime. For the reimbursement concerning the rental, should I go through the attorney (since they proposed to include it as part of the settlement) or should I go directly deal with the atfault party insurance. I am also planning on asking for diminished value.
Thank you!

I think you could deal with the insurance on the rental car stuff. If you’re going to ask for diminished value claim, you have to wait till the car is completely fixed and then you have to get a diminished value appraisal, which one you about $500.00 and it depends on the repair value and age of your vehicle if it’s worth doing.
I don’t know about the best way to go about the rental car, but I would think why pay for the attorney to deal with it when it should be fairly simple for you to deal with the insurance on it. Is that what you meant?
