So I had a pipe burst and I’m a little nervous my insurance won’t cover it. I’m moving out of my old house into my new house. I stopped sleeping at my old house right before Christmas but I’ve been back often to move things out. On 1/22 I canceled my Internet service at the old house. On 1/29, after some bad/cold weather, I went to check on the house. The thermostat had glitched and was off. I’m not sure if disconnecting the Internet did it or not but I’m assuming that was the trigger. The house was otherwise fine. I turned the thermostat back on, and, as the weather was going to be even colder than normal, I turned off the water at the main valve.

Unfortunately, I went to the house again today and a pipe had burst in the bathroom ceiling. The main shut off wasn’t completely turned off, even though it felt like it was. So it wasn’t as bad as it could have been but there’s still a lot of damage.

I’m nervous. I tried to take precautions. Will they likely deny my claim?
