For context, I stated that I make 55K on my application to a Quicksilver Rewards Credit Card and a Citi Simplicity Card and was denied for both.
I've never had a credit card before, and I'd like to get started on building my credit but I can't if I keep being denied. I'm really confused because I'm a responsible spender.
Can someone shed light on why I keep being denied?

Might want to start off with Discover IT card or get a secure card.
I also recommend Discover card. My young adult children got Discover card when they were in college as their first credit card. I also haven’t had own credit card for many years but could get Discover card about 1 year ago. Since then, I have built decent credit score to be able to get approved for other credit cards.
Find somebody who can refer you to Discover card. Both of you will get $100 statement credits if you get approved.
They will send you a letter that explains why you were denied.
Most likely it is because you have no credit history and will need to start with a secured card.
Capitol One has secured cards and some other starter products. We can’t put links here, but google, “credit card for someone with no credit history” and “capital one” and it will take you to the preapproval page for the starter products. It says “Build, Rebuild or Establish Your Credit” in big type.
> I’ve never had a credit card before
That’s your issue. You’re applying for cards that are beyond the grasp of your credit profile. Have you received your denial letters yet? I’d be willing to bet your denial reasons include “insufficient revolving credit history.”
Here I am getting approved for Citi Double Cash while having 6 new inquiries along with getting approved for Amex Gold straight afterÂ
