Sen. Elizabeth Warren is introducing a Senate resolution urging the reversal of a deal that allows the UAE to purchase 500,000 advanced Nvidia AI chips annually. Her move follows reports that UAE official Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed, nicknamed the “Spy Sheikh”, secretly bought a 49% stake in the Trump family’s World Liberty Financial just days before Donald Trump’s inauguration, sending about $187 million to entities associated with Trump.
Warren argues the chip sale risks U.S. technology reaching China and suggests the investment in the Trump venture may have influenced the approval of the deal. The resolution is unlikely to pass but puts political pressure on Republicans who have also warned about AI tech leaking to China. The Trump administration denies any wrongdoing, and Trump has said he is unaware of the deal.

I did not know that NVIDIA was controlled by Washington and could approve and disapprove purchase agreements between them and other countries. Thanks.
