Recert/Discretion chat Nelnet

I am over 300 payments on ICR with an upcoming recertification date of April.

I chatted Nelnet today to discuss a discretionary pause since over 300. They said they could do that but suggested I recert first and then ask for pause.

I popped over to recert on studentaid.gov. In going through the recert process, it seemed to look like I was reapplying for ICR all over again instead of just doing a recert. Hopefully that doesn’t mess something up.

Interestingly enough, it said the ICR app will go to Nelnet for processing at $0/mo for $0 total to be paid with payoff by Jan 2026.

Nothing earth shattering to the post just sharing the experience for anyone in a similar situation.
