testing a small affiliate model what makes you trust a new offer?

I’m experimenting with a small affiliate setup for a student-focused digital product. Before scaling, I’m curious what actually makes people comfortable promoting a new offer. Is it payout speed? transparency? verification? something else? Not selling anything here genuinely looking for perspectives from people who’ve done affiliate / performance-based work before.
