I have a near-perfect driving record and Geico had Accident Forgiveness on my policy for free — but my renewal just jumped, so I’m quoting other insurers (NJ). Some sell Accident Forgiveness as a paid add-on, and I’m trying to gauge how much it’s actually worth paying.
I’ve heard anecdotally that it doesn’t necessarily stop your premium from rising after a claim (loss of discounts, base-rate changes, etc.). Quotes suggest it would cost me about $20 more per month.
How much would you pay for Accident Forgiveness, and did it actually prevent higher rates after a collision claim?
Is Accident Forgiveness worth paying for?

No, you’re just paying the rate for having at fault accident activity up front.
