I need to make 200.00 stretch for 2 weeks. bills are paid for the month. how do I prevent myself from spending anything ? I have a really hard time not buying at least something. im also trying to get over a gambling habit that has become embarrassingly bad. no judgement please- just some helpful tips.

I want to get in the habit of being cheap again and only spending when I absolutely have to. I dont know where to start.

also if anyone else was in a sinilar situation, how did yiu get over it and get yourself back on track to saving?

How do I not spend any money for 2 weeks?

What does that $200 need to cover if your bills are all paid? Gas? Groceries? $200 for two weeks should be more than enough.

Here’s what I’ve done: take out $75 in cash each week. Only spend that cash. This limits you—no DoorDash or Amazon purchases. And then you can feel your wallet getting thinner.

For me, cash feels more real and I’m less likely to spend it. I know it’s the opposite for others, but that’s my hint

I’m fixing to start leaving my debit card at home. I don’t have time to go to the bank most days so it shouldn’t be a problem for me.
My gas tank doesn’t need filled until Friday, as long as I stick to the same driving habits.
I have some meals prepped so I don’t need any groceries, or takeout.
And if it is an emergency, I just make a point to make it to the bank across town within the 30 minutes I get off work and that specific bank closes.

    4. plan out the food (cook EVERYTHING at home, NO eating out. maybe go down to 2 meals a day).

and do everything that you would normally that doesn’t cost(replay games you already own, watch whatever free/subscriptions, library, hiking)

If you have a really good friend that you also strongly trust, withdraw the entire amount from your bank account and give the cash, debit card, and any credit cards to them.

If you need to buy a necessity like groceries during the two weeks, they have to go with you. It externalizes the financial discipline, but hopefully that is only temporary.
