looking for shallow container diy humidifier ideas

in a quick diy attempt a month ago, i filled some pails up and have them in the bedroom. only need them in the bedroom. but i realize more numerous shallower/wiser containers would work better.

am thinking of some type of rack system with multiple shelves where i could layer shallow pans of water. i’m striving for minimal space and don’t want pails of water all over the room. i tried the thing where you stick a towel in the pail and rig it so it sticks up and acts as a wick. but that just got to be too much and i need several of these. i think my idea with a rack system might be better.

any ideas?
