I simply make a circle of clothes around the central pillar thing in the machine. then spread the powder over the circle. add a new ring of clothes, only one item deep. powder again. so on until now clothes left.

    1. My powder says to add it first then start the water running so it can all dissolve before adding any clothes. So I do it the way they say.

    2. You definitely should add powder first to an empty drum. Your method is leaving pockets of concentrated detergent in your clothing.

    3. I have a gallon jug of Persil with a dispensing tap, on a shelf over my HE top-loader. I drip a certain amount directly on the clothes. I can be as stingy as I want and I don’t mess up a measuring cup.

I live alone so a gallon lasts me several months. Not sure bc when it gets low I refill it with bulk product. I buy in large quantities, maybe every six months.

    4. You’re using far too much

Can you measure the amount specified on the package? Put that amount in the bottom of the tub first. Then clothes.
