How old were you/what stage of life when you first started hosting dinner parties for friends or family?

Like where you provided the meal, maybe guests brought things maybe not. Or like a bridal shower or celebration for someone. Nothing super upscale necessarily. I actually hosted a bit while I was still a student in college (sometimes friends talked me into it 🤣).

What was the occasion and did people bring items or chip in (potluck) or came empty-handed and you provided everything? Thanks.
