This has been sitting in the room I dumped it in since Vday lol. I hate throwing stuff away but we’re traveling and I do not know what to do with it :/. I‘m new to ”adulting” so what do you guys do? Yeah I know it’s dumb but I hate to see it end up in some landfill. and there are tons of bags but that’s alright i can give that to be recycled but Idk about these.

I keep.some of it in with my gift wrap stuff but I never use it so I eventually throw it away lol

    2. Re use it. Organize and untangle the string that’s long enough and use it for other gifts later. Or, if you’re crafty, use it for something in your hobby

    3. Do you have any sort of place that offers craft classes near you? I have a place by me that accepts donations.

    4. I loosely roll them up to reuse later. Put them in a container so they don’t get all crumpled and creased

I throw them away, tbh. Could you maybe use them to close food packages? (Like cereal, etc)

      Maybe to tie your hair?

    6. I absolutely loathe the ones with the printed logos or writing on. They look cheap and can’t be reused. I can’t find a way to remove the writing effectively so they have to be chucked. What are companies thinking by using these because no one likes them?!

Give it to a friend who has a cat? Use it for arts and crafts? Keep it for using for arts and crafts when you babysit?

Untangle, roll them up , give to a little girl to use for her dolls and Barbie’s.
( you can always save the reds for Christmas)

    10. I use fewer/no gift bags to begin with. The ones I receive without branding I save and reuse. I keep a jar of ribbons and use them to give gifts in the future. A present wrapped in some tissue paper (often saved from another gift or from online shopping) with a nice ribbon is a nicely wrapped gift in my opinion. I’ll even make gift tags by cutting off the blank front of a card, punching a hole in it, and tying it to the bag or the ribbon on the package. It doesn’t have to look bad and homemade.

I organize and save them to reuse when wrapping future gifts or decorating, crafting, etc. I do this with cards too if they can be reused or turned into postcards. I have a box for all this stuff. If I have more than fits in the box, I declutter and donate what I don’t need to the local used art supply store.

    12. I also save many of mine. I reuse them for gifts, or to tie up herbs to hang dry, I repurpose them for cat toys, etc.

I think any reuse is better than no reuse. You can only do your best here. Some may end up in the garbage. It sucks, and I hate it, but just remember that any little bit of reuse helps 💚

    13. What can be re used I save and store with gift wrapping supplies. What is too funky goes into a scrap bin that my kids use to make all sorts of various ‘scrap bin creatures’

    14. I keep my random bits & bobbles and put it into a Tupperware. Any random packaging that still has use or looks/feels interesting stays. I give said Tupperware to children when they’re “bored” and tell them to make me an invention.

We saved a bunch giftwrapping from Amazon (which are drawstring bags made out of stiff fabric) which we reuse. Relatives my household exchanges gifts with do the same and after unwrapping everyone either takes back their bag or exchanges bags. The bags came from gifts sent from family who live in different parts of the country.

Usually I tape a new piece of paper over the tag with the current recipient’s name, but I’ve considered making or buying more permanent gift tags that can be reused.

I have a bin to organize all my gift wrapping supplies. These would go in there and get used for future gifts.

I keep old gift bags and boxes as well

    17. You generated that much waste in just ribbons and strings/ties in one (1) day?!?! How?!?

How many things did you purchase or use for that one, singular day?

If you can’t legitimately remember what those items were, 11 days after the event you should consider consuming less because that is a lot of waste that will take years to break down, even in ideal conditions.

The actual answer is don’t use those items and if you really want wrapping, invest in some reusable gift bags

Re use it, I keep all my gift wrapping/bags in a specific drawer. No use in throwing it away unless it’s unusable.
