My dad got me a Remington hair trimmer when I moved out at 19. I've had that machine for 14 years and it's been cutting amazingly the whole time. A few months ago it started having some trouble. I was looking into buying one again, and they are pretty cheap, but it still felt wrong to buy it when I could try to fix mine.
I tried sharpening it and oiling the blade, but it didn't help. I was about to give up but decided to disassemble it. After oiling up the pivot point on the inside and reassembling it, it works great again!
I don't know if the new Remington machines are as good as the old ones, but I really doubt that if I went for the 30 euro one (same model I have now), it'd last me another 14 years.
