For those of us who were around in the 1970s we know that oil price increases travel quickly through food costs education costs' said economist Mary Lovely of the Peterson Institute. 'My little frame shop around the corner told me we won't be able to get these goods anymore because our supplier has a 40000 dollar bill sitting at Customs he isn't able to pay. That overall just has a chilling effect on economic activity. https://nationtimes.co.uk/2026/03/02/economist-warns-trumps-iran-war-could-trigger-1970s-style-inflation-where-oil-price-hikes-hit-food-costs-and-education-too/

      Ridiculous.

World has a surplus of oil production.
Iraq and Afghanistan did not lead to a market crash or massive inflation.

These “economists” are retired and are talking about a time that no longer exists. Oil prices are declining with declining usage. This is not the 1970s where production was barely keeping up with demand.

This “war” which isn’t a war and is more like the sudden use of ordinance won’t last long, nor will it have any impact beyond the Middle East.

Nobody likes Trump, he is an idiot, but can we have some non stupid articles from random never heard agenda websites from being posted please?

      Utter rubbish.

If you think it’s not possible just look at where Iran is situated

Iran can and likely will bomb gulf oil refineries as a means of pressuring them to stop supporting the war

They can also make attempts to shut down shipping through the strait of hormuz

Trump: And how can I directly profit from this while the rest of the American people suffer? 🤔

    4. Does no one vet sources anymore? Just because a blog exists doesn’t mean it’s reputable.

    5. Odd headline. Don’t need to go back to the 70s for this we had it a few years ago.

We had this style of inflation when the Ukraine war started. Except people blamed Covid rather than Ukraine war for some reason, but the war pushed oil up and in turn supply chain costs across the board.

The world has different energy agreements and energy exporting/importing agreements.

    7. Iran exports at most 2 million barrels per day, out of a global 80 to 100. A 2-3 percent drop in oil will not cause massive inflation. And this is before other countries ramp up production to bridge the cap

Whelp. Hopefully none of you are planning to retire any time soon like I was. We’re fucking toast.

Didn’t we invent petrodollar to fix the 70s? Maybe I’m just a whipper snapper but I imagine this is more like the early 00s.

Although I am sad for the dead innocent people,
      Bring it on.

Crush the USA with insane gas prices and make people riot.

I’m solar everything and just got an EV so the impact is low, personally. But if pain is going to make people see trump needs to go then so be it.

Just sad it is death to another country that has nothing to do with his stupidity, until the bombs drop.
