Hello everyone,

Today I'm taking the first step in what is a multiple year plan. Because buying our own house in the country where we live (Netherlands) seems expensive and impossible, I want to explore the possibility of buying and renting out a tiny house or a gite in France. I'd love to hear from more people who have done this.

    Local legislation

    1. Type of accommodation (pros and cons)

    2. Mortgage for a holiday home

    3. Off-site maintenance and cleaning (how does this work)

    4. Maintenance costs (urgent etc.)

    5. Sewery connection costs (for non-existing buildings)

    6. Soil survey costs for purchasing land are already over €1000, without garanty it will work out…

    7. Existing buildings much more affordable than new constructions (but there are still skeletons in the closet)?

    8. Low revenue (is it actually worth it?)

Buying a house to rent it out – Is it worth it?
