My sister died four months ago and I am suddenly receiving a lot of solicitation- mail and texts- from realtors asking if I have a house to sell or that they know I have a house to sell (I don’t, probate is still in process and I’m not the assumed beneficiary). Can anyone tell me how this is known? The beneficiary would be my parents at this point but that wouldn’t be known yet. My name is on the death certificate as the informant. The probate filings have been happening with my name on them. I don’t understand how my name and personal home address and phone are receiving these solicitations. Please help me understand so I know what to be aware of or protect myself and the estate from, as I’ve been trying to manage and secure the house that‘s outside of my city, but can’t be there every day and probate is a couple months from finalizing. I’m worried about securing the house and I don’t know what else- maybe losing access to accounts that I’m paying bills with. What would be exposed that realtors have access to and is there something I can opt out of at this point?
