Hi, I’m thinking about moving and there’s an ALDI I could get to by bike. I found a street sign I can lock my bike to nearby. I was wondering how the prices are at ALDI and if they have the depth/variety to get everything I need from one place. Like eggs, skim milk, whole wheat bread, chicken I can keep in the fridge/freezer, healthy vegetables, various kinds of fruits, dark green leafy salad mixes, peppers, onions, tomatoes.

Does ALDI have low prices? Can I do all my grocery shopping there?

    1. Why go inside a grocery store or check a weekly circular while you’re already there when you could ask the internet instead!

    2. I have found the prices at ALDI to be very very competitive, and they have a fairly good selection of most items. I really like their brands.
I dont buy a lot of produce there, only because I’m single, and they don’t sell individual items, only larger bags/boxes/packages. I don’t usually want 10 lbs of potatoes, or 8 kiwi, so I’ll get them elsewhere. However, if the packaging amounts work for you, go for it! 🙂

all that stuff, yes, for sure. prices, many are better, sometimes by a lot(walmart), sometimes the same’ish. we go to aldi first then finish at walmart.

    4. Yes, they have all those things. And they are so much cheaper than the regular grocery store. It’s crazy.

    5. Aldi is the SHIT. SO affordable, and their brands are even healthier than big brands. No artificial colors, non-GMO, etc. I absolutely adore Aldi

    6. One note about Aldi and the stores like it is they usually carry only one type of an item. There is one type of ketchup and mayonnaise. If that is fine then these types of stores are pretty good for shopping.

Just be prepared for two big differences they don’t have free shopping bags so you buy them and checkout or bring your own. The other thing is it’s 25 cents for cart rental which you get back if you return the cart to the corral. These two things keep the prices low.

    8. Aldi will give you the basics. They will not give you 5 brands of mayonnaise (maybe 2), you won’t get a wide variety of cake mixes like in the grocery stores (maybe white, chocolate, lemon). Eggs in particular are limited to white, brown and free range, but the savings are with the white one. Yogurt flavors are limited. Butter just a couple brands. Canned vegetables are limited to one brand and they carry a lot of in season items (IE Cranberry sauce) only at that time of year.

You will save some money but they are not the cheapest prices in town.

    9. I read an article recently that compared prices at large grocery stores. The best prices were Aldi’s and one other chain that isn’t in my area (forgot the name).

They included a comparison to Walmart, Target, Kroger, Publix, and Whole Foods.

    10. Yes! We’ve done our weekly shop for a family of three at Aldi for a few years now. We may supplement here and there but that’s bc we have a Sam’s Club membership or need something Aldi doesn’t carry like a medication from Walmart.

Many things at Aldi are cheaper than Sam’s or Walmart. For example, grapes are usually under $1.70/lb, sometimes $1.29, but they’re steadily $2-3/lb at Sam’s/Walmart.

    11. In my experience, I can do about 80%-90% of my shopping at Aldi. Produce is where I strike out from time to time.

    12. Aldi has much better fresher produce than my Kroger, well worth the extra drive to Aldi for me.

    13. Aldi is great. I prefer Lidl. We have both in our area. I have yet to check out the Grocery Outlet that just opened nearby.

Apparently, the brothers who took over the Aldi family business had a falling out over cigarette sales that led to two Aldi companies in Germany (Sud=South and Nord=North). I’ve only been to the Sud stores, and Aldi Sud runs the stores in North America, and they bought Winn-Dixie and Harvey’s.

Apparently, Aldi Nord’s parent company bought Trader Joe’s.

90% of Aldi is store brand. But every person has their own tastebuds. Everything I tried I liked 90% of. It’s a great store. Read labels. A lot of their stuff now has high fructose corn syrup where it used to have sugar.

Prepare to downvote. I don’t find what I need at Aldi. The fresh produce is always suspect. Plus it is only sold in huge bags or packages. I am lactose intolerant and eat a mostly plant based died. Those products are hard to find. The shopping experience at my local Aldi is subpar at best. Dingy crowded aisles exacerbated by the fact that they only ever have one checker and no self checks. I usually find better deal at my supermarket using their app. I do keep trying Aldi about once a year and usually walk out without buying anything. If I were buying for a family I might feel differently, but I’m not.

Ya. They rotate some items but they always have the staples. You’ll find a snack you like and I’ll be there a few months and gone but otherwise, especially on a low budget this is one of your best bets

And you think, it is better to ask the internet instead of just going there and looking for yourself?

      There is no entrance fee.

      Just go and look.
