We have a 2013 Mercedes C250 that was in very good condition, KBB around $5500, but that was before we hit an object on the front driver side that left a large dent, 8" wide x 4" deep, in the front bumper, cracked the windshield fluid reservoir, and potentially additional damage. Several local shops estimated around $3k repairs pre-tear down to understand the full damage. I do not have an offer for selling it as-is at this point.

It is insured in WA throgh Geico with $1500 collision deductible on it, and we do have accident forgiveness and most of their possible discounts. I am leary of putting in a claim because a) we can only improve resale value so much given the car's age, and having an incident on the vehicle report from the claim B) potential premium increases as we shop for a new/expensive vehicle replacement C) we may need that accident forgiveness for a more significant incident.

Am I wrong to think that in this case it may be best to avoid a claim? I appreciate any advice and am happy to provide additional details.

    Claim or sell as-is: 2013 Merz C250
