Few days ago I've heard that bitcoin is going up because alot of Iranians are turning their cash into bitcoin and taking it out of the country. What's causing the pump today??

Somebody somewhere just sold… which causes the price to go up because bitcoin just likes screwing with people who pay attention to the price. The best strategy is to live somewhere that you can use it for an actual currency on everyday transactions or keep buying and encouraging the growth of an international currency that isnt controlled by a single government.

Why did it go down for 6 months+? LOL BTC is up +1% today and we’re asking why it is going up? Was someone trying to time the bottom…

Most of the time it is just basic supply and demand. More buyers than sellers in the short term. But the reason people are buying matters too. Lately it has been a mix of ETFs still accumulating, institutions slowly allocating, and people using bitcoin as a hedge when currencies or geopolitics get unstable.
The Iran thing people mention sometimes plays a role but it is usually small compared to global capital flows. The big moves usually come when large pools of money start positioning at the same time.
I spend a lot of time digging into this stuff and writing about it because the narratives around bitcoin change every cycle. If you are interested in that kind of breakdown you can check my profile.

Same thing every week, we’ll be back to mid-60s this week like the previous week, and the week before that. Unless it hits the mid-upper 70s, we’re not seeing anything different.

In bear markets, bitcoin spends the majority of the time going up. Then it legs down.
Few understand this.

The real reason is that someone, somewhere, just sneezed in the general directoin direction of a hardware wallet. But don’t worry, by tomorrow we’ll have 14 different narratives about why this particular 1% move was the most significant in human history.
