I've been seriously considering getting into the transport business , but nobody prepared me for how chaotic the business can get.
The business looked like a great idea on paper, but nobody prepares you for how chaotic the business can get. Let's not even mention, the shipping cost , regulations, licensing and maintenance. It's not as simple as 'buy and start making money '.When the idea was still fresh in my mind, I thought about sourcing a minibus through Alibaba, because the prices seemed way cheaper compared locally. But then again isn't it risky to order a vehicle online?
While going to work , I started paying more attention to actual buses and minibuses on the road… I noticed the wear and tear, dealing with passengers, traffic, just to mention but a few. Now I'm rethinking everything, because who wants to manage a chaotic business everyday? So for anyone already in the transport business, is it actually worth it long-term or is it as stressful as it looks?

Is starting a minibus business a great idea?

A lot of businesses look simple from the outside but are operationally heavy once you’re in them, and transport is definitely one of those. What usually makes or breaks it long-term isn’t just the initial cost, but how well you handle the day-to-day chaos schedules, delays, maintenance, customer issues, etc. If the idea of dealing with constant small problems already feels draining, that’s probably a useful signal. Some businesses are less about “growth” and more about managing operations every single day. Might be worth testing the space in a smaller way first before committing fully.
