Hi! This may sound like a silly question but thought it was worth a shot to ask. I took out college off student loan for the 18 months that I was in school and I have been unemployed for two years almost. I called collegeave telling them that I am unemployed and they said they can extend my grace period to another 6 months, but my interest will be $451/month (the total balance I owe to college ave is $31k). My mom said she will lend me the money to pay off my student loan however I would like to know if they will offer to give back some money or any other discount since I’m paying the full amount and I don’t think they knew I was unemployed for that long.
**I’m asking if that’s possible with private student loans as I have called my credit card company telling them I can pay the full amount but I would like my money back for the some months of interest I paid and they actually said yes**
P.S I am actively looking for a job
I want to pay my College Ave private loan in full – any useful advice on how to get money back?

Not going to happen – you’ll have to pay back the full balance. The only time this *might* happen would be if you had a debt that was in default or collections and you worked with the creditor to settle the account for less than the full amount. This would only be offered once your account had been severely delinquent for a very long time and they were attempting a last ditch effort to try to recoup some of their money. At this point, your credit would already be ruined, too. In other words, don’t do this.
