Apologies for this in advance of this post shouldn’t go here but —
I’m early 40s and have wanted to buy BTC for years. Keep getting in my own way out of fear of buying into something I know little about (vs unable to afford) despite best attempts to fully grasp what is needed from soup to nuts. Even now, I’ve been reading the bitcoin for beginners and other bitcoin subs and feel completely lost beyond the experiencing it all as a different language. I just can’t seem to wrap my head around the entire process because there’s so many things to consider. Is it worth just trying to buckle down and read something like a bitcoin for dummies (I don’t know for sure but I imagine this book exists) so I can go forth and do so? Or is it not worth it right now at all?

Read up on it now so you can act if and when the right time comes for you. Because if you don’t you won’t be prepared and it will pass you by again. Also you’ll realize what it is and whether it is for your or not.
