I’m 21 and currently have a learner’s permit. I’m trying to understand how non-owner liability insurance works in North Carolina.
How do you get non-owner liability insurance at 21, and how much should I realistically expect to pay?
I’m asking because I plan on buying a car soon, but I won’t be using it right away. I also don’t really have anyone who can give me rides, so I’m trying to figure out the best way to handle insurance and getting my full license without being stuck.
Any advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation would help.

Call a local broker or agent and tell them you are looking for non-owners coverage. But if you’re getting a car soon, you won’t be able to have non-owners coverage once you have that car.
As for the premium, no one here can tell you what that would be, but it’s almost certainly much less than whatever you would pay if you actually owned a car.
