I’m seeing a lot of founders still chasing the GPT hype, but the gold rush phase is officially over. In 2026, nobody cares if your app "uses the latest model", they only care if it saves them 10 hours of manual grunt work.

The real money right now isn't in the AI itself; it's in the un-sexy middle layer.

I’ve realized that the most profitable moves lately aren't "creative" AI tools. They are the "boring" agents that handle things like compliance docs, supply chain forecasting, or automated billing disputes. We’ve shifted from the "Unicorn Era" to the "Efficiency Era."

If your tool makes a legacy business even 10% more efficient, you have a real moat. If it’s just a "cool feature," you're one OpenAI update away from being obsolete.

My strategy for this year is simple: find a specific person's worst manual task and make it disappear. That is the only validation that actually matters anymore.

What’s the most mind-numbing manual task in your business that you’re desperate to automate right now?

The AI "middleman" is dead. Here is what's actually making money in 2026.
