I am currently on the save plan and have been stuck in forbearance just like everyone else, I did make payments on save back in the beginning so I know that I am actually on the plan and not one of the people that I've seen post here recently that we're just applying for it.

I sent in a new in a new IDR back in 2024 when I was told to prior to them moving the deadline back because of the lawsuit, they finally processed that application a month ago and now are moving me off of safe forbearance but claiming that I'm still on the save plan and that I have a payment due tomorrow.

I contacted them a month ago at this point and was told that they were going to place an expedited request to have me placed back on safe forbearance which would take 10 business days. That has not happened and several phone calls over the last few weeks later the person I talked to this morning told me that that was never placed as an expedited request and that I can expect at least 90 days for processing time.

I know that it is a crapshoot whether or not whoever is on the other end of the phone is making things up or just ignorant, but regardless right now my account says I have a payment due tomorrow.

My question is what happens if I don't make this payment? Will my account be listed as having a late fee? And then will I have to fight for months to get any of that removed from my account? Would it be easier for me just to make the payments and hope that they get this sorted out before next month's payment is due? And since they can't even process payments on the save plan right now. What would happen if I did make a payment?

I've called three times so far this morning and each time been transferred to what was supposed to be the resolutions department, but I just get an automated message saying that they will call me back at some point in the next 48 hours.

SAVE payment "Due" tomorrow, looking for advice
