I’ve been using unusual options activity as part of my trading process for a while now, and honestly it’s been working better than I expected.
I’m not treating it like some magic standalone indicator, but when the flow lines up with price action and overall context, it’s been a pretty useful signal for me.
Curious how many people here actually use it seriously, versus just watching it as background noise.
A few things I’d like to hear from others:
- What kind of flow matters most to you?
- Do you care more about sweeps, repeated prints, volume vs OI, short-dated contracts, far OTM bets, etc.?
- How do you separate real directional intent from hedging?
- Do you use unusual options activity for entries, conviction, timing, or just confirmation?
- Has it genuinely improved your trading, or do you think it’s overrated?
For me, it’s been useful enough that I pay attention to it regularly now, but I’m still trying to figure out how other traders are filtering the signal from the noise.
Would be interested to hear how people here actually use it in practice.

For example, I received a signal 30 mins ago
And I use it to do a 5-minute trading

Unusual options activity has been a pretty solid signal for me. Anyone else actually trading off it?
