Got my quote back from insurance adjuster, can I pay a shop to get a supplement and just pay them for their estimate without fixing the car? They seem to think there’s more damage than initially thought (of course). Any legal issues or anything with me not fixing the car after?

    1. Is it actually a supplement? Usually the supplement is after they do work and find more damage.

    2. If you accept their money and don’t repair, they may cancel that part of their coverage (prob. comprehensive). They paid that money in what passes for good faith in the auto insurance business that you would use it for repair.

    3. if they cut you a check and didnt include your lienholder on there, thats a mistake. but if you dont repair it and the car gets totaled and you dont own it outright, theres gonna be some splainin to do Lucy!

a supplement will only occur if the car is at the shop and THEY submit it to the insurance co
