This will be an interesting project to follow in Canada – PEI is a small province with little local power resources beyond wind and solar and imports a ton of electrity from the nuke plant in neighbouring New Brunswick. On a day like today, a little over half of the demand is being served by imported nuclear power with the remainder being from a large solar installation and two wind farms. The province is currently debating purhasing some refurbished diesel turbines as a contingency plan for peak demand, but many have been calling for alternatives.
