Checked the same hotel from a few different countries. Same dates. Same room. Didn’t expect the difference to be this huge.
The prices:
- UK → highest
- US → a bit lower
- Thailand → way cheaper
At one point the gap was like $900.
I know geo-pricing is a thing but didn’t realize how far it goes with hotels.
We’re overpaying massively – just because of where we live.
And it’s a bit hard to unsee once you notice it. I could easily be paying 20–30% more than the guy taking a shower next door.
What surprised me is there’s another layer.
Even after booking, prices keep changing.
So unless you keep checking manually (humanly impossible), you might miss a drop.
I ended up going down the rabbit hole and built something for myself to check prices across different countries in real time. Mostly because doing this manually is a pain.
Curious how many people here actually do this regularly.
- Do you check prices from different countries before booking?
- Or do most people just book and move on?
Feels like a lot of people are probably overpaying without realising how big the gap is
Same hotel, same room – but overpaying 30% just because of where I live
