What is the highest possible credit limit on a 5178 bucketed card from Capital One?

The Capital One Platinum Secured card was my first ever credit card and have had it open for around 11 years. Naturally, I don't want to close it because of the credit history, but I recently decided to optimize my credit card line up. And with that I found out about Cap One's bucketing system and realized this card is in the dreaded 5178 bucket.

I got this card upgraded to a Quick Silver One and got a $2K limit, up from the original $200. At 19, I joined the military and since I had this card prior to service, I received SCRA benefits that were never removed. I currently have a 4% APR on everything and no fees of any kind. Due to the extremely low APR, paired with 1.5% cash back due to the fact that it's a Quick Silver, I wish to use this card as my emergency card. But an emergency card in my book would also dictate a higher limit. So I'm wondering what the highest possible CL might be.

The rest of my lineup includes a Navy Fed More Rewards with 3X on restaurants, food delivery, supermarkets, gas, and transit; a Cash Rewards Plus with a flat 2% cash back as my catch all card planning to upgrade/PC to the Flagship Rewards for the free Amazon Prime; a Chase Prime Visa for 5% cashback on Amazon (I purchase most toiletries from Amazon); and as I previously mentioned, the QSO from Cap One with an extremely low APR but also the lowest limit of all my cards.

Should I continue fighting this fight of increasing the limit, or should I bite the bullet and try to find another card with a low APR for emergencies? The lowest APR I've found is around 10-11%, so more than double the rate on my QSO. I really don't want to give up since 4% is lower than what I could potentially get from even a personal loan. Even lower if you account for the 1.5% cash back.

Don't know if it matters, but income just crossed the 6 figures and my score is in the 820s across all 3 bureaus.

So with that in mind, what do you think is the highest possible limit I could realistically get on a 5178 bucket?

Closed accounts continue aging for up to 10 years on your credit reports. Close the account if you decide someday you wish to do so.

Capital One wants to see high statement balances, coupled together with broadly corresponding payment data. Wash, rinse, repeat, don’t fuss over !utilization.

Does this link let you switch to the no annual fee version? It let me and others from this SUB PC from the QS One in 2025, after being stuck with it for years. Not to say you need to since the fees waived anyway but just curious l (and you don’t want to lose your apr either)

I was stuck with 500 for a long time, eventually got it up to 2100 but hasn’t gone up since. Nbd really.
