We're a small team trying to start documenting SOPs but most tools seem expensive.

Is there a decent free SOP tool that can generate SOPs automatically?

Edit: Tried Haiku's free version today and it worked surprisingly well for creating SOPs.

Any good free SOP tool for small teams?

honestly chatgpt does this well if you prompt it right. give it the process step by step in plain english and ask it to format it as an SOP with roles, steps, and decision points. the output is cleaner than most paid tools i’ve seen. we’ve been doing this for a while and it saves a lot of back and forth with the team. happy to share the exact prompt structure if useful.

Notion’s actually clutch for this – their free tier lets you build pretty solid SOP templates and you can collaborate with your whole team. I’ve been using it for our marketing processes and it’s way better than trying to wrangle Google Docs for everything.

The template gallery has some decent SOP starters too so you don’t have to build from scratch. Plus once you get the hang of databases you can track which SOPs need updates and stuff like that.

tbh most “free” SOP tools are kinda limited or push you to upgrade fast. if you just need something solid, a lot of small teams just use notion or google docs and build simple templates, works surprisingly well

for auto-generating SOPs, those tools can help a bit but you’ll still end up editing a lot anyway. sometimes starting from a rough template and refining it as you go is easier than relying fully on automation

if your team is small, keeping it simple usually wins over trying to find the perfect tool…..
