Hi everyone! I’m a college student and I currently have the BofA Customized Cash Rewards credit card where I’m able to have a 3% cash back on a category of my choice along with 2% on groceries and wholesale clubs and 1% on all other purchases. I usually keep this on online shopping, but will rotate it with gas and dining on some months. Most of my expenses go towards shopping (including online shopping, dining, and gas.
I’m looking for another card to maximize my benefits, and I’m considering the AMEX Blue Cash Everyday credit card. I could use this card for purchases like online shopping (3% cash back) and groceries (3% cash back). This would allow me to set my BofA card to specific 3% categories like gas or dining. I mainly fill up on gas with Costco, and Costco doesn’t take AMEX. I also have a HYSA with AMEX at the moment so I thought that opening a card with AMEX might keep me more organized.
Another card I considered was the Costco Anywhere Visa, but I don’t spend nearly as much on Costco gas to justify the 5% cash back. I also don’t grocery shop at Costco too much yet. The AMEX would allow me to have more flexibility with cash back and where I spend while my BofA card can cover costs at Costco.
I currently spend around $200-700 a month, sometimes more depending on the situation. I would say that half of that (or more) is from online shopping and/or dining, another quarter on gas, and the rest on groceries. A very small percentage goes to streaming services, and sometimes health.
I’m curious as to whether other people have credit card recommendations that may fit my needs!
