Hi, so recently my auto insurance agent has stopped working with Traveler and our policy would be terminated in ~1 month. We found a new agent and they claimed that we seem like a high risk with a likelihood of them not renewing our policy.

For context, our policy is a family policy with 4 people and 4 cars. We've had a medium severity at fault crash in 10/2021, an extremely minor at fault claim in 2023 (it was literally a lady going crazy over a tiny paint scratch) and a sever at fault claim last week which resulted in a total loss for my car and rear damage to two other cars (one of which was so minor you couldn't even visibly see it). The 2021 and recent claim were my fault while the 2023 claim was my brother's fault, leaving my mom and dad spotless.

What do you guys think? Does the severity of the claims matter? Does the fact that our policy was a family policy "cushion" the riskiness of our policy? I've also lost a car due to flooding although its not on our record, but could they possibly count that against us? Are there any other factors that can play into the chance of whether we would be dropped that I didn't discuss and how would it effect my family?

I'm not sure if my current premium rate matters, if so let me know as well. Thanks!

How likely to be dropped by Traveler auto insurance after my agent has left them?

    1. We’re still very much in a hard market meaning underwriting is still stringent, Travelers is very much a standard auto insurer so they are similar to State Farm and Allstate.

From what you’ve said your agency is most likely correct and you have a high chance of being dropped by travelers or they will be increasing you enough to make you not want to stay with them.
