So with the PayPal debit getting nerfed the next best card for groceries and/or Costco is up for conversation.
Now popular contenders are:
Amex gold – 4x on groceries and restaurants but no Costco cuz Amex
Amex BCP – 6% on up to $6k spend per yr but no Costco cuz Amex
Bilt Obsidian – up to 4.33x on groceries but that’s if you wanna get into the Bilt game but Mastercard so no Costco
Custom Cash – 5x on $1500 per quarter on top categories, but Mastercard so no Costco
AAA Daily Advantage – 5% groceries and 3% wholesale clubs ($500 cash back limit yearly)
Some more low key ones:
Any of the Kroger brand Mastercards – 5% on smart pay (Apple, Google) or Kroger pay on up to $3000 PER CARD but Mastercard so no Costco
US Bank Shopper Cash – 6% (if you shop at Walmart or target for groceries) and 3% at wholesale clubs
Citi Costco anywhere + executive membership – 4% on Costco but pretty trash for regular groceries
Venmo credit card – 3% for anything considered groceries (similar to PayPal debit)
SoFi Smart Card – charge card with 5% to groceries but excludes wholesale and Walmarts/targets
There’s definitely some others but there’s are the ones I can name off the top of my head. Please pitch in to any that work for you or work in general.

Venture X for me. Keeps my wallet simple and earning 2x and getting 1.5-2.5cpp with my points means I’m getting 3-5% back.
Robinhood Gold.

Citi Costco anywhere is 2% at Costco, so not great. The executive membership is separate and can be purchased with any other card. I wouldn’t even include it.
With that said, Robinhood Gold is missing from your list at 3%. You can also buy gift cards with some of them to get greater than 3% – Bilt Palladium, BoA CCR, and Ink cash are some.
I’m on the hunt too. I’m pure team cash back and was planning to retire my BCP this year. Trying to figure if I want to keep it and switch Costco over to Robinhood Gold Card or use another hard inquire to go for the AAA daily advantage card. Also looking in to what I’m hearing is called the Amex Elevator? Which is a constant shuffle of upgrading and downgrading to avoid / mitigate the AF. Sounds like a lot so leaning away from that imo.
The Costco part is tough. The Citi Costco card only earns 2% at Costco. It’s actually a better card for gas. The 2% from the Executive Membership is there no matter how you pay.
Right now I think my best option is my Wells Fargo Active Cash paired with Autograph so I’m earning 2X points. I want something better but it’s tough to find any good options without jumping through some hoops.
I wouldn’t necessarily consider points
I used to think points were always worth more than cash back, but now I think it’s sometimes/usually the opposite.
Plus low/no annual fees.
I’ll probably be going to the AAA because I don’t have the robinhood gold.
NIHCU has a Visa that gives 3% wholesale, 4% for the first year when I got it.
