I'm considering getting an AMEX Platinum even though I can't get an offer anymore. I'm active military, so I don't pay any annual fee regardless. I do not plan on spending $12K in six months, as I just hit a couple SUBs and need to save up. If there was an offer for $12K in 12 months or $3K in three months, I might consider waiting for it.
I have an AMEX Gold, AMEX BCP, Fidelity Visa, USAA Visa, and a Sam's Club Mastercard. I always pay in full and am responsible, so that's not an issue. I could really use the benefits of the AMEX Platinum since I'm going to Europe in the next few months for a long time.
Am I crazy for thinking I should just go for it and get the AMEX Platinum right now?

Which benefits specifically? You’re not chasing a sub, and already have the Gold. What could the Platinum offer you that the Gold isn’t? Flights, lounge access?
