for the same annual fee?? those credits alone more than make up for it
The bad part is the 2x gas, restaurant and supermarket. But the rest looks interesting. How much is the annual going to go up? Or is it staying the same?
Would be a nerf on those everyday categories of groceries, gas and dining, though if the no-annual fee Strata didn’t change you could keep the 3x earn on the first two categories with it.
Statement credits seem interesting, a little bit of Altitude Connect and AMEX Gold angles with the Priority Passes and dining credits. The hotel credits do seem a little more flexible than the current one.
Wonder if the AF on the Premier would go up too. ETA: Why the heck didn’t you include the proposed $195 annual fee for this refresh?
1. I’m skeptical that this is real. Without any actual proof or corroboration of the survey, I’ll treat this more like “fun speculation”.
2. If they nerf dining, supermarkets, and gas to 2x, the card is hot garbage. The DoubleCash gets 2x on everything.
ETA: when I say it would be “hot garbage”, I mean as a card unto itself. No longer a Swiss Army knife everyday card that could stand alone, now a travel/transit only card whose main purpose is AA transfers.
This sounds like an increased AF if they would be adding TSA Pre Check and a limited amount of lounge access. Maybe they are anticipating a Sapphire Preferred refresh, or they are adding another card between the Strata Premier and Elite.
Too big a nerf for citi nights and dine
It’s starting to look more like a Chase card: nerfed multipliers and more coupons. All the more reason to just do cash back.
I didn’t get this email. This is interesting though. It’ll take away some of the daily multipliers, but if it makes the use of the credits easier then it isn’t bad. As of now, the hotel credit is pretty difficult to apply on that card.
