so not even two weeks ago, I transferred some of my large amazon CL to my Freedom. I’ve had the freedom for well over a decade, and it has always had a comically low limit.

Tonight, again, less than two weeks later, I received an email saying my spending on chase cards and overall credit usage across all banks is low, so they will be halfing my CL.

It does say I can call to opt out.

What is the catch here? Is it really as simple as a phone call and they won’t reduce it?

This hardly feels like a normal periodic review, I’m guessing moving lines triggered it.

And yes, I use very little of the line, and pay off monthly, but I still see no reason to lose the credit limit for no reason

Just call and be done with it. Capital One does this too.

On a population level, many people won’t bother responding, and the issuer can reduce their risk exposure.
