Looking for some advice here. I was out of town on business this week. My wife was rear ended in our neighborhood by a teenager who also lives on our street.

The teens family provided his insurance after I requested it. Will filing a claim with their insurance negatively affect my rates or my cars accident record? The damage is minor but I literally just paid this car off and was planning to resell it.

The quote I received from two different auto-body shops was around $2500 to replace the bumper.

I work in a totally unrelated field and have no idea how this stuff works. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Filing a claim with the other parties insurance, won’t hide it from your insurance, because it still goes on your record. They will see it when you renew.

You should pay for it out of pocket. You shouldn’t use insurance to maintain the appearance of your car, not for a fender bender.

What’s your deductible, and what state are you in?

If your planning to sell the car then you should get it done as cheap as possible.

Maybe you can sell the car broken.
