Been investing post COVID and things were going well for me. I'm mostly into index ETFs and a couple large cap stock picks. My plan is more long term and passively managed, so factually I'm shouldn't be worried.

But the culmination of the insanity since Trump took office is chipping at me with a possible war starting, impending inflation cuz oil, and waking up almost every morning with a red screen.

How was it for you who went through wars, recessions, and other long term market downturns?

For veterans, how are you emotionally weathering this storm?

    1. Now is the time to lean into being a financial goth. Embrace the pain, even demand more pain from the markets, it’ll make you a better investor.

    2. You just keep steady. If you are steadily investing, you’re buying at a discount now.

Dollar cost averaging will set you free.

Market is crashing? Great, you’re automatically buying more of that undervalued crap.

Market is spiking? Great, you’re automatically buying less of that overvalued crap.

      What’s to stress?

My portfolio is basically flat today, hovering at 0 +- 0.2%. My international stuff, REITs, utilities, and MLPs are all green, the rest is some shade of red.

It is what it is. I am just going to keep doing as I’ve been doing.

    5. Feels like the Falklands again. This time no superior air support nor subs that can not be found. Its fubar.

    6. I sold bunch right after the attack of the Iran to have some cash ready when we hit the bottom.

like how it always happens, whatever I buy it drops. I bought some gold at the time and look at it now.

      lol
