I work hard. I save. I invest long‑term. I do everything “right”.
And yet, my financial future keeps getting whipped around by ego fights, speeches, elections, and policy chaos that have nothing to do with fundamentals.
It’s not just numbers on a screen – it’s years of effort, security, and peace of mind.
At some point it feels less like investing and more like gambling on which powerful people decide to light the room on fire this week.
How are you all coping with the anxiety of markets being driven by noise instead of value?
Anyone else exhausted watching their investments swing wildly because of political theater they have absolutely no control over?

My investing period is decades not months.
Yup. My portfolio can swing like 1/3 of my yearly salary in a day. It’s dumb. I feel dumb, regarding my risk management.
Tbf, you always have little control over your stocks.
And these changes are temporary. For most of these companies, nothing has changed fundamentally.
But you do have the control, every two years.
Tbh I don’t pay enough attention to my portfolio to really see or care about these day to day movements
As someone who lived through 2008, I highly advise you to turn off your computer and go outside and touch grass
Hate watching them but also taking advantage of the dip. Bought 100 shares each of GPIX & GPIQ. Also picked up 450 shares of SCHD. (Retired)
There are a lot of things you don’t have control of your life that greatly affect the outcome of it, I don’t have any advice other than control what you can and accept what you can’t
You are still ahead of me.
I knew I didn’t have the risk tolerance for an insider’s market, so I sold most of my equities January 2025.
It’s getting interesting now. Might even have some of my limit buys hit.
To answer your question, in the past I’d just ignore it, but put in limit buys for securities I liked at prices I liked. It’s been the only way back into a volitile market for me.
All things considered, prices are still pretty good. The future is anyone’s guess, but Iran could be the black swan event if things start to spiral out of control. A single nuke will make 2008 look good.
Nothing you can do about it. Humans gonna human. Better off focusing on things you can control.
it feels bad because there are corrupt people jerking everything around. it is gonna be this way. unpleasant.
