I’ve had capital one venture one forever, hardly used it cause the rewards are crap but kept it alive cause it’s my oldest credit card. I was thinking to upgrade it to venture x for the 10x points on hotels, but I just checked 3 hotels we frequent and they were all 30 to 70% more expensive on the capital one portal compared to Expedia! Does anyone get actual use from the capital one portal?

I had the one key card with Wells Fargo for the minuscule Expedia benefits, but they restricted it and wanted me to send some tax forms to prove income, which I never did cause they wanted specific forms that I’ve never had to send anywhere else and then they closed my account. My credit score is always between 790 and 820, never miss payments, pay off full balance monthly.

Capital one portal always significantly higher than Expedia?

in my experience the prices have been normal booking in the US. can’t comment internationally

    2. I do not use the portal for hotels or rental cars; I use it for flights which have never been higher priced than booking direct for domestic, and I’ve booked with them many times with no issues.

Sometimes higher. Sometimes lower. Expedia has a bit more inventory overall.

I got a good price from C1 this week. It just varies a lot by portal. Sometimes Priceline is better. Sometimes Rove. You just never know.
