Hi! I book large room blocks for multiple nights for my business, and I’m thinking about getting a Marriott credit card. I see Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express claims to earn 21x points if I book directly with Marriott. Is that true when booking group rates directly with sales managers?
I see other cards with 18.5x points, 17x points, too. Not sure if they count either.

Based on eligible charges on Marriotts website it doesn’t seem like you’ll get points because the groups usually get organized under a master bill. Probably you’re best off using a catch all card or something with a hotel/travel category to get points
Group rates often don’t earn full 21x, check with sales how it codes before relying on it.
21x is more of a best case stack and usually doesn’t apply to group blocks since those are often negotiated or master billed, so a lot of the spend may not earn. Might be better to focus on consistent returns and comp rooms or credits where most of the value is.
