I know the exact car I want. I have narrowed down to about ~10 options each at different local dealerships.

What it mainly comes down to is who can give me the lowest price. I feel like if I go in saying that exact thing dealers will be like “our best price is sticker price”. I also don’t want salesmen to feel like I’m playing some game with them — I just want to make both our lives easier by finding the best deal and getting it done.

So, in my initial emails or calls, what is the best thing to say or approach to take?

My answer: find a private party if you can. Buy something cheap enough that you can just self insure, and don’t need full coverage.
