My AA Mastercard is not being renewed come June when my current card is set to expire. It’s closed for having been over the limit which I admit I am guilty of. The minimum payment has always been met and I was late once (by accident/oversight) and I paid it immediately once I noticed. My question is has anyone else gone through this scenario and did they close all your other Citi Mastercard/Visa, such as Double Cash, and store cards such as Home Depot and Macys? I have a Citi Home Depot that I use very little and pay off in full and a Macys that I owe about $200 on. My credit report has one card showing over 30/60 day (Issued by TD Bank) that is set to fall off as a hardship payment plan will be completed in July. Aside from that, everything else is good and my FICO 8 score is in the lower end of the good range.

My boyfriend is going to add me as an authorized user to two of his cards that have a zero balance (Capital one and BOA) in the hope this Citibank closure doesn’t cause too much of a change in debt to credit ratio on my credit profile. He rarely uses those cards and carries no more than 5% to 10% balance if a balance at all. Aside from the dip caused by age of new credit, I am thinking it may work out in the end. I am back trying to recover after we had a major accident and a job loss. Despite all this, I still paid the minimums and timely. I also recently paid off a large car loan when I sold one of our vehicles.

Citibank closing my AAdvantage Mastercard account by not is issuing new card when current one expires
