Do roundup investing apps actually change your saving habits, or is it a gimmick?

Been thinking about whether apps like Acorns actually make up for people who struggle to invest consistently, or if the amounts are so small they don't even matter.

For some background I've been mocking up what a more transparent version of this would look like; one that gives you a plain english weekly summary of what your money is actually doing and why. Curious if that kind of thing would make you more likely to stick with it or if you'd just ignore it.
